Marin, Barrett, and Murphy Law Firm is a highly reputable, fast-paced boutique law firm. We provide comprehensive legal services across all practice areas including family law matters, ranging from divorces to child custody disputes, throughout Rhode Island. As we continue to grow, we are seeking a highly motivated Family Law Associate Attorney to manage their own caseload which includes legal advice and representation in matters such as divorce, child custody, adoption, and property division. The Associate Attorney Applicant must be licensed to practice in Rhode Island with at least 2 years of experience in family law.
Responsibilities:
- Attend court hearings or other legal proceedings, perform legal research, and collaborate with senior associate attorneys to provide legal advice
- Maintain client files in an organized fashion to ensure up-to-date information is readily available
- Manage a caseload of family law cases from inception to resolution
- Effectively litigate family law cases, including conducting legal research, drafting pleadings, and appearing in court
- Negotiate and resolve legal disputes in the best interest of the client
- Consistently communicate with clients about the status of their case, legal defenses, and strategies
- Stay up-to-date with changes in family law and other relevant legal developments
- Candidates should have excellent verbal and writing skills, have experience in courtroom settings, and be comfortable in court
- Candidates must demonstrate strong ethics, a commitment to hard work, and a dedication to achieving great results for our clients
Qualifications:
- Must be licensed to practice in Rhode Island with at least 2 years of experience in family law. Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree required from an accredited law school
- Applicants with extensive family law experience are strongly encouraged to apply
- Active member in good standing and no disciplinary record with the Rhode Island State Bar
- Must project confidence and competence when engaging with clients and opposing counsel
- Must be able to empathize with clients, and provide excellent customer service
- Strong verbal communication skills, time management, and interpersonal skills are crucial
- The attorney will report to and work out of our East Greenwich, Rhode Island office
